Four years

When I launched my website in 2021, I had partly wanted it to be a driving motivator to write more and share more frequently. It kinda worked. I wrote three novellas in the span of a couple years (shout out to the Rokkoh stories) and posted a fair amount of my back catalogue. However, after a while, content started drying up. I would post little musings and blog posts to meet the arbitrary weekly upload schedule I had imposed upon myself.

The idea came in early 2022. Ever since my teen years, I had wanted to write a Young Adult urban fantasy romance in the vein of Twilight. Plenty of attempts filled my hard drive, but few ever made it past a handful of chapters. Instead of returning to any of these older stories, the muses spawned new characters into my mind. A boy new to a small town and the mysterious loner girl who catches his eye. Her secrets ran deep, and the two of them had more in common than what the surface might suggest. Thus, Ash Woodward and Sera von Abaddon were born.

Now, in June of 2026, I can finally celebrate the completion of Incinerate’s first draft. Sitting at a staggering 241,000 words and 56 chapters, this has easily become the longest writing project I have ever attempted. It is also the first full-length novel I have finished. Now comes the next stage: trimming the fat and making it a more cohesive story. Thankfully, I have a good idea of certain sections that can be either retooled or removed completely.

I’ll post again when the next version of Incinerate has been finished and polished. Thank you for coming along for the ride so far!
